Veronica's Cookbook – Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake

Now it’s time to share my Favorite summer indulgence! Who doesn’t love a toasted marshmallow? How about a creamy vanilla milkshake on a sticky Chicago night? Have you ever had a toasted marshmallow milkshake? It’s delicious! Here’s the recipe:

Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake:

1 bag of jumbo marshmallows
2 cups of milk
½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 tablespoon of sour cream (trust me it give it a creamier flavor)
2 cups of French vanilla ice cream

You can toast the marshmallows outdoors or indoors. Toast them outdoors by having a little bonfire outside and toasting them on a stick. For the indoors version, put ½ bag of marshmallows on a medium size non-stick cookie sheet. Make sure they are not touching each other as they expand as they cook. Place them under your burner in the oven (set the oven to broil) for about 2-4 minutes or until completely charred. Remove from oven and let cool. Repeat this step for the remainder of the bag, but only toast the marshmallows slightly this time. Remove from oven and let cool. (This is where I sneak a marshmallow taste, for quality control of course! They are just so hard to resist.)

In a blender, add the milk, vanilla extract, sour cream, ice cream and charred marshmallows. Mix until smooth. Pour in a large glass and top with 3 or 4 toasted marshmallows and enjoy.

You can play around with the ice cream flavor for a unique creation, like using strawberry ice cream and adding fresh strawberries to the blender for a strawberry toasted marshmallow milkshake. You can also use vanilla with chocolate fudge ice cream and crush some graham crackers in the glass for a s‘mores flavored milkshake!
