A few months ago, we told you how important it is to have a thorough home inspection, so we recently took our own advice and followed our inspector from room to room as he examined the state of our newest project at 1660 N. LaSalle. We’re planning a complete gut rehab of the unit, so we asked him to focus specifically on structural issues and major problems. *Note: GFCI outlets are Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter outlets. They are the outlets you see that have reset buttons on them, and they are designed to protect against electrical shock. Modern building codes require that you have GFCI outlets in areas near water and moisture — usually kitchens and bathrooms.
