Beautiful East Lakeview home used to be a famous flower shop

We’re thrilled to share with you one of our newest listings, a unique and historic home in East Lakeview at 745 W. Buckingham that was once part of the flower and plant emporium of early Chicago resident George Wittbold. Wittbold had been the royal gardener to the Kaiser of Germany before he emigrated to Chicago in the mid-19th century. Once here, he established a sprawling and lucrative floral business that stretched from Belmont to Aldine and included orchards, gardens, nurseries and a large greenhouse.

The building at 745 W. Buckingham is now all that remains of this once impressive empire, and it has been converted into some of the most beautiful and unique condos in the city. Join us as we give a brief video tour of this 4 bed/ 3.5 bath condo with our friends at YoChicago:

If you’d like to see the space in person, we’re hosting a Broker & Neighbor preview party this Thursday, Oct. 18, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. We’d love to see you there!
