Since 2006, when Nicholas partnered with his mother Edie Apostal to form The Apostal Group, the team has focused on providing a high level of service with a friendly and professional approach to customer interaction. As lifelong Chicagoans, Edie and Nicholas, along with the rest of team at The Apostal Group, offer buyers a thorough knowledge of the market and tough negotiating skills to secure the best possible property for that client. For sellers, the team’s dedication to continuous market analysis and regular feedback, as well as their network of contacts and attention to detail, ensure that homes are sold and closed quickly and easily for the highest possible price. Nicholas Apostal

Principal Broker 

Nicholas Apostal has established himself as one of the top residential REALTORS® in Chicago and a leader in the residential brokerage community. He is a managing broker associate and a member of national, state and the local Chicago Association of REALTORS® where he co-founded the local committee of the Young Professional Network. He’s earned his ABR, Accredited Buyer Representative, CNE, Certified Negotiating Expert and Relocation certifications as well as the Previews Luxury Property Specialist and CRS, Certified Residential Specialist designations. He began his real estate career in 2001 as a junior associate at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Lincoln Park and by 2006 Nicholas partnered up with his mother, Edie Apostal, and hired two associates to form The Apostal Group with the goal to provide a higher level of customer service and targeted expertise to clients. Nicholas also has extensive leadership training which he uses to teach agents in Coldwell Banker’s new agent development program and as a speaker at seminars for the company and regional associations. In 2013 Nicholas was responsible for over $30,000,000 in home sales from 80 transactions in downtown Chicago. Throughout the past 10 years he has been recognized as a top producer by the Chicago Association of Realtors, received multiple awards from industry groups and included in Coldwell Banker’s President’s Club of elite agents.

A lifelong resident of Chicago’s north side, Nicholas comes from a family that has been active in real estate investment, management, development and sales for more than 40 years. He attended public school at Lincoln Elementary, received his high school diploma from Francis W. Parker School in Lincoln Park, then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boston University. Before turning his full attention to real estate, he worked as a program coordinator and fundraiser for an international non-profit organization in New York City. He is an active member of the Lincoln Park Zoo’s Auxiliary Board and is involved with multiple local charity and civic organizations. When he’s not working Nicholas loves cooking, theatre, skiing, history and travel.

He remains an avid learner, ever improving his skills and proficiency in the trade, and a passionate teacher, constantly encouraging an honest, ethical and dedicated approach to facilitating the needs of individual home buyers and sellers. Nicholas embodies the role of the “trusted advisor” to his clients and colleagues alike.

Edie Apostal


Edie Apostal has been active in Chicago real estate sales, management and development since 1974.  In 1993 she moved her business to Coldwell Banker and in 2006 joined with her son, Nicholas, to establish The Apostal Group. She has earned the designation of GRI, successfully completing her advanced studies in real estate with the Illinois Graduate Realtors Institute, and her CRS, Certified Residential Specialist membership from the National Residential Sales Council.  In addition to being an active member of the Chicago Association of Realtors, Edie is also a member of state and national REALTOR® associations.  Throughout her career, Edie has been recognized annually as a top producer, winning more than 50 awards from employers and her peers in the industry.

A lifelong resident of the Chicago metropolitan area and a graduate of Northwestern University, Edie brings to her position of Broker Associate her expertise as a high school history teacher, an extensive knowledge of the evolution of Chicago’s neighborhoods, and her personal experiences as a homeowner, real estate investor and rehabber. Her community commitments include volunteer service in local schools, neighborhood associations and memberships in organizations such as the Lincoln Park Conservancy and the Lincoln Park Zoological Society.  These experiences, along with years of success in all types of market environments, and her warm, personal approach to working with clients and neighbors, make Edie uniquely qualified to guide both sellers and buyers with their individual journeys through homeownership.

Veronica Cavazos

Operations Manager

Veronica’s foremost responsibility is client care, she’s committed to supporting the team, making their ability to service their clients her top priority. She oversees all active property files, spearheads marketing efforts and coordinates the scheduling of all necessary resources in the management of each listing.  She’s especially good at overseeing the intricate contract process from singing through attorney review and mortgage acquisition to ensure that every transaction smoothly makes it to closing. Veronica has a strong work ethic, superior organizational skills and she prides herself in making every client’s move an enjoyable experience.

Veronica has been a part of Coldwell Banker’s Lincoln Park Plaza office since 2006, working for several independent brokers before joining The Apostal Group full-time in 2009.  These varied experiences give her a broad understanding of the Chicago real estate industry and extensive experience in the home sale process for vastly different property types and clientele.  Prior to her current career, Veronica was the operations manager for a corporate training and event company and trained as a chef in classical French cuisine.  She was born and raised in Chicago, loves knitting and exploring local parks with her family.

Kate Taylor

Vice President of Business Development

Kate Taylor has worked in real estate in Chicago for the past five years with previous experience in both Boston and New York markets.  She’s a licensed real estate broker, an active member of the River North Residents Association and a member of the Chicago Association of Realtors.  In addition to her background in residential sales, Kate worked in the telecom industry developing and managing communication tower properties in the Northeast and Midwest.  She applies project management skills to her career every day, taking her clients through the process of buying and selling with great attention to timing and detail.  In the search for new and organic sources of business, Kate has found a niche in investment purchasing-scouting and qualifying properties that meet the needs of savvy investors.  She works hard to develop life-long relationships with a dedication to achieving client goals.  Over the years, Kate has discovered her creative side, providing guidance in decorating and staging homes in preparation for sale.

Kate has sold properties as far north as Loyola University and as far south as the University of Chicago, with particular focus in Roscoe Village, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, River North, Streeterville and West Loop neighborhoods.  She is a long-time resident of River North, participating in the River North Business Association, promoting new local establishments and active in her condo association at the Grand on Grand.  Kate has a passion for cooking, interior design, travel and most recently running in local races.

Kimberly Becker

Vice President of Sales

Kimberly Becker focuses on selling our inventory of fine homes and condos as well as providing committed service as a buyer specialist.  She has a fresh, enthusiastic approach to working with people in all walks of life. Her tenacity is second to none, exhaustively seeking out solutions to client’s needs with a desire to establish life-long relationships. Kim brings extensive sales experience to the team and is dedicated to superior customer service through a personalized approach to client care.  An active member of the Chicago Association of Realtors, Kim is involved in the organization’s Young Professional Network and continually strengthens her industry knowledge to bring the latest and best practices to transactions.

Kim is a Chicago area native who grew up in the north-west Chicago suburb of Arlington Heights.  After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Management at Indiana University’s School of Public & Environmental affairs with a minor in business administration from the Kelley School of Business, she returned to the Chicagoland area to pursue a local career in sales.  Kim has been a resident of various city neighborhoods for the past nine years including Roscoe Village, Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, and River North, she currently resides in Old Town.  Kim is actively involved with the Chicago Chapter of the Indiana University Alumni Association, Kelley School of Business Alumni Association and Chicago’s local Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Kim has a passion for live music, snowboarding, running local races and loves experiencing everything Chicago has to offer with her family and friends


Gerardo Garcia

Broker Associate

Gerardo Garcia is the most recent addition to The Apostal Group at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage and he brings a distinctive background to the real estate profession. A Chicago native and current resident of the South Loop, in 2014 Gerardo became a licensed real estate broker and member of the Chicago and National Associations of Realtors. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and most recently worked for over 5 years at Geraci Law, LLC, one of the most prominent bankruptcy law firms in the Midwest, where he acquired extensive experience in customer service.

In 2001, Gerardo transformed his love of music and dance into a small side business planning parties and events. Through this endeavor he’s become intimately familiar with communities and neighborhoods across the Chicagoland area. This business has flourished into a partnership, further expanding his managing and marketing skills. Gerardo is now prepared to take what he has learned and apply it to residential real estate sales. In all of his occupations, Gerardo remains dedicated to serving the best interests of his clients while being an active member of the community and donating to various charities.
